Device Sync Process - Guide for RMC
What is provided in this guide?
Step by step instructions to sync your Project Content, Admins, Learners, and Settings from the Rumie Management Centre (RMC) to your Rumie Tablets or devices. A successful sync must be performed to ensure that the Project on your Tablets or devices is consistent with what has been managed on the Rumie Management Centre.
How do you sync your Project to your devices?
There are three ways you can sync your Project to your devices.
- Automatically perform a sync - This can be performed when "Enable automatic Internet (Wi-Fi)" has been toggled ON on your Rumie Tablet or device and the Auto-Sync is enabled in the Project Device Settings in Rumie Management Center. An automatic sync will be initiated and your Project will be successfully synced to your Rumie Tablet or device. within the next 60 minutes. Before the sync takes place, you will need to ensure that your Rumie Tablet or device is connected to Wi-Fi and has enough battery. If the battery level is below 50% plug in your Tablet or device to a power source.
- Manually perform a sync - This can be performed in three different scenarios, as follows:
- When "Auto Sync" has been toggled ON and you confirm you have a Wi-Fi Internet connection.
- Ensure "Sync using Wi-Fi only" is enabled on your device. "Sync using Wi-Fi" is only available for devices on a cellular network. This step is not required on the Rumie Tablet
- Wait for the Sync to be completed automatically in a time period of 60 min
- When "Auto Sync" has been toggled OFF, however, you do have a Wi-Fi Internet connection
- Power your devices ON, and confirm that they are connected to Wi-Fi. They will not sync automatically.
- Login to the Rumie App with an Admin account
- Navigate to Settings >> Sync and choose Sync By Internet.
- When there is no Wi-Fi Internet connection available you can sync by SD card
- Click the “Proceed Sync” button in the RMC to create a downloadable .zip file of your Project Library.
- Once the file has been generated, you will see the message "Project generation is complete! Please download the zipfile below and extract its contents onto an SD card". Select "Download Zipfile".
- The zip file that you will download will be called RumieData_ProjectABC_XYZ.zip where ABC represents your Project ID.
- This will contain the folder RumieData_ProjectABC which you will have to extract.
- Once the download is complete follow the steps in the *Operating System Chart located below.
- Insert the SD card into an SD card adapter.
- Insert the SD card adapter into the computer.
- Delete the Rumie folder SD card, if it already contains one. you will be replacing this folder with the updated Rumie folder on the SD card. If there is no current Rumie folder on the SD card, ignore this step.
- Drag the unzipped updated Rumie folder onto the SD card.
- Once the files have been transferred to the SD card it can safely be removed from the SD card adapter.
- Insert the SD card into the Rumie Tablet or mobile Android device (Note: The SD card slot is located on the back of the Rumie Tablet at the top).
- Login to the Rumie App login as an Admin.
- Select Sync By SD Card
- When "Auto Sync" has been toggled ON and you confirm you have a Wi-Fi Internet connection.
- Web App Link
- By clicking on the web app and selecting "Proceed to Sync" a Project URL would be generated. You can copy this URL and send it to the list of Learners so they can access it on their personal tablets and computers

What is the easiest way to perform sync?
Using these different sync methods you can sync your Project from the Rumie Management Center to your devices. The easiest way to perform a successful sync is to perform an Automatic Sync. This will ensure your Project is synced successfully to your devices in a time period of 60 min.
In case, Automatic Sync is disabled either in the Rumie Management Center or on your device, then you will have to perform a Manual Sync. A Manual Sync can be performed using two options; Sync by Internet or Sync by SD card. As explained above, if you have access to an Internet connection, then you need to have Wi-Fi sync enabled and select Sync by the Internet to successfully sync your project from the RMC to your device.
If you do not have a Wi-Fi Internet connection, you will have to sync your Project using an SD card. First, ensure that you have a micro SD card available. Next, generate your Project, download the .zip file to your local workstation (windows or Mac) and transfer the Rumie folder to the micro SD card. Follow the steps for "Sync by SD card" in the above section
This section will explain the steps you will need to take on the Rumie Tablet or your device in order to perform an automatic or manual sync
Welcome to your Rumie App!
The Sync Device page on the App will allow you to sync your Project successfully to your Rumie Tablet or Android device. You will have two different options to sync your Project:
- Sync by Internet (Wi-Fi)
- Sync by SD card

In order to start configuring your project on to your Rumie Tablet or device, you need to consider the following:
- Enable automatic Internet (Wi-Fi) - You can toggle the option to be enabled/ disabled. When this toggle has been enabled on the Rumie Tablet and Auto Sync is enabled in the Project Device Settings in the RMC. Once you turn on your Rumie Tablet or device and confirm the Wi-Fi Internet connection, automatic Wi-Fi sync will occur within the next 60 minutes. The automatic Internet sync needs to be enabled on both the RMC and the Rumie Tablet or device. This will be helpful in a use-case when you add or remove any content or a collection from a Library in your Project. These changes will be synced automatically within the next 60 minutes.
- If you've enabled "Enable automatic Internet (Wi-Fi)” and Auto Sync in the RMC Device Settings for the Project, manually syncing with Wi-Fi will not be necessary, your Project will be synced successfully within 60 min
- If you have disabled “Enable automatic internet (Wi-Fi) and Auto Sync in RMC Device Settings is enabled/ disabled, you will have to manually sync your Project to your device by selecting “Sync By Internet (Wi-Fi)
- If you've chosen "Sync By SD Card" but are connected to Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi sync will override the SD Card Sync. If you make any changes to your project on the SD Card ensure, you have both "Enable automatic Internet (Wi-Fi)" and "Sync using Wi-Fi only" disabled. Also, you should confirm that your Rumie Tablet or device is not connected to Wi-Fi.
- Sync using Wi-Fi only - You can toggle this option to be enabled or disabled. When this toggle is enabled, you can only sync your project with the "Sync By Internet (Wi-Fi)" option. "Sync using Wi-Fi" is only available for devices on a cellular network. This step will be not be required on the Rumie Tablet. This is the only option available for Wi-Fi Sync. Under this, there are two scenarios
- When "Enable automatic Internet (Wi-Fi)" is enabled - This will allow for the Project on your Rumie Tablet or device to periodically sync with the RMC.
- When "Enable automatic Internet (Wi-Fi)" is disabled - In this case, automatic sync with the RMC will not occur. You will have to manually sync the project with the RMC to get the latest Project changes onto the Rumie Tablet or device.
