About

Hello, welcome to your Rumie Tablet!

This user manual will explain everything you need to know about your Rumie Tablet so you can quickly set up your tablet and Deployment Library and begin learning. Please refer to the document Terminology for any unknown terms.

Tablet Setup

Turning your Tablet On

  1. Turn on the Rumie Tablet by holding down the short button on the right side of the device for 4 seconds
  2. The first time the Rumie Tablet is turned on it might take several minutes to load. If so, please wait
  3. Once turned on, the lock screen will appear. To unlock the Rumie Tablet, place one finger on the lock icon at the bottom of the screen and swipe upwards

Configuring your Deployment

Once the Deployment Library has been created in the LearnCloud Admin Panel (see LearnCloud User Guide), there are two ways to load the Deployment Library from the LearnCloud Admin Panel to the Rumie Tablets. It can be done through Internet or using the SD cards that are provided along with the Rumie Tablets.


If your Internet connection is weak consider using the SD cards. It might take significantly longer to load the Deployment Library if the Internet connectivity is poor. If you have limited bandwidth is limited, consider using the SD card option. 

Option 1: Deployment Configuration via Internet

  1. Ensure your Rumie Tablet is powered ON
  2. Navigate to LearnCloud app by select the “LearnCloud” button located at the top of the home screen
  3. In the LearnCloud app swipe to the right on the screen to open the Navigation Drawer
  4. In the Navigation Drawer select “Settings”
  5. In the Settings screen select “Configure Deployment”
  6. On the Configure Deployment page, select “Add deployment from Internet”
  7. In the pop-up box enter the Deployment ID and Deployment Key that was provided to the Tablet Admin through email
  8. Select the “Add” button to load the Deployment Library to the Rumie Tablet
  9. In the Configure Deployment screen tap the back arrow (<-) located in the top left corner of the Rumie Tablet
  10. In the Settings screen tap the back arrow once again
  11. Tap the “Login” button located in the center of the screen
  12. Login as Tablet Admin with the credentials provided *See page 6 for further instructions on how to login
  13. In LearnCloud app swipe right to open the Navigation Drawer. Tap on “My Libraries” ->Tap the checkbox next to the Deployment Library -> and Tap the “Sync from Internet” button
  14. Once the Deployment Library is loaded tap the back arrow (<-) to go back to My Collections screen
  15. Ensure that all the Collections and Content have been successfully loaded
  16. Logout of the Tablet Admin account through the Navigation Drawer
  17. Sign In as a Student to ensure student accounts are working.  *See page 7 for further instructions on how to login

Option 2: Deployment Configuration via SD card

  1. Open the LearnCloud website on a computer and login
  2. Navigate to the Deployment Library by clicking the dropdown arrow next to your profile picture and select Deployment Libraries
  3. Click the “Generate” button to create a downloadable file of the Deployment Library

  4. Once the Deployment Library has been generated click the “Download Now” button and wait for your Deployment Library to download to your local storage
  5. Once the download is complete follow the steps below in the *Operating System Chart based on what type of operating system is being used on your computer
  6. Insert the SD card adapter into the computer
  7. Drag the unzipped Rumie folder onto the SD card
  8. Once the files have been transferred to the SD card it can safely be removed from the SD card adapter
  9. Turn on the Rumie Tablet
  10. Insert SD card into the Rumie Tablet (Note: The SD card slot is located on the back of the Rumie Tablet at the top. Depending on your model of Rumie Tablet you may need to remove the top portion of the case to access it)
  11. Once SD card is inserted the Deployment Library will be loaded onto the Rumie Tablet
  12. Login as the Tablet Admin with the credentials provided *See page 6 for further instructions on how to login
  13. In LearnCloud app swipe to the right to open the Navigation Drawer. Tap on “My Libraries” -> Tap the checkbox next to the Deployment Library -> and Tap the “Sync from SD Card” button
  14. Once the Deployment Library is loaded tap the back arrow (<-) to go back to My Collections screen
  15. Ensure that all the Collections and Content have been successfully loaded
  16. Logout of the Tablet Admin account through the Navigation Drawer
  17. Sign In as a Student to ensure student accounts are functioning

  1. Right click on the zipped file 
  2. Select "Extract All..."
  3. Click the "Extract" button
  1. Double click on the zipped file to extract it 

Content Interactivity

PDFs

  • Swipe left and right to turn the pages. Pinch open with both fingers to zoom in and pinch closed to zoom out
    • To edit a PDF: Tap the screen to display the toolbar at the top -> select the tool to use
    • To add a bookmark, show bookmarks, or print: Tap the three dots in the top right hand corner -> select an option

Videos

  • Tap anywhere on the screen to make the video controls appear. These controls will let you pause, fast forward, rewind, and go back to the previous screen

Apps

  • There are Android Applications that can be included within your Deployment Library
  • These are some standard learning apps for the Tablet Admin and Students to access
  • The Tablet Admin will see a few more apps then the Student, including the Rumie Tablet Settings, if the Deployment Library was created with Content Lockdown on
    • This ensures that the Tablet Admin can access everything on the Rumie Tablet and the Students can only access approved Content on the device

Installing Apps

Apps in the Deployment Library’s Collections are available to be installed by both the Tablet Admin and Student.

  1. Select the app to be installed
  2. Click on “Install”
  3. After the app is done loading, the app will open automatically
  4. Once installed, the app can be accessed through the Collection it is in or on the home screen of the Rumie Tablet with the other apps

This section will provide the steps necessary to perform core functions as a Tablet Admin user.

Description

Updating Content

When a change has been made to the Deployment Library on the LearnCloud website, the Deployment Library on the Rumie app will need to be updated as well. Updating the Content on Rumie app can be achieved through four methods: SD cards, Internet Sync, Mesh Sync, or LAN Sync. 

Updating Content with SD cards

  1. In the Rumie app login as Tablet Admin or as Student
  2. Navigate to “Settings” -> ”Configure Deployment” -> “Sync from SD card”
  3. Each Rumie Tablet will manually have to be synced from the SD card

Updating Content with Internet Sync

  1. In the Rumie app login as the Admin or as a Student
  2. Navigate to “Settings” -> “Configure Deployment” -> “Sync from Internet”

Adding New User Profiles 

The Deployment Library comes with pre-configured users. Additional users can be added through the Rumie app:

  1. Login as Admin
  2. In the Rumie app navigate to “Settings” -> “Configure Deployment” -> “Add a New Student” -> Input the desired new student credentials


Student Usage

Logging In

There can be multiple students logged into the same account on different Rumie app. If the Rumie app is being used on the Rumie tablets, there is access to view analytics of each user. To ensure accurate analytics, each student should have their own account. 


  1. Inside the Rumie app select “Student”
  2. Input the student login username and password that has been provided by the Admin
