About
Hello, welcome to your Rumie App!
This user manual will explain everything you need to know about your Rumie App so you can quickly set up your Project Library and begin learning. Please refer to the Terminology document for any unknown terms.
Image of the first page a user will see if a project has not been configured inside of the Rumie App.
A few new enhancements have been introduced to the Rumie App in 3.6. The main Login page will default to Learner account login, removing the toggle between both "Learner" and "Admin" options. You will be first brought to the "Login as Learner" login screen. By selecting "Login as Admin" you can log in as an Admin (ie. Teacher) user.
Project Configuration
Once your project has been created in the LearnCloud Admin Panel (see LearnCloud User Guide), there are two ways to load the Deployment Library from the LearnCloud Admin Panel to the Rumie App. It can be done through the Internet or using the SD cards that are provided along with the Rumie Tablets. The Project Setup must be done by the Admin of the Project.
If your Internet bandwidth is limited or your connection is weak consider using SD cards. It might take a significantly longer time to load the project if Internet connectivity is poor.

Library Download Options
When you are downloading a library on your device, you have the ability to toggle on/ off the following options depending on the way you are downloading (Internet or SD card). These options will be listed on the "Configure Project" page of the Rumie app. The options are listed below in the table
Copy Content to Internal Storage | Download and Sync over Wi-Fi only | Download to External Storage | Rumie Local Sync |

|
Download Content to Personal Device
Once the project has been configured, you have the capability now to download the content of your library to the internal storage of your personal device. In order to do this, as a user, you have to make sure that the toggle for "Device Management Learner" has been set to enabled. Only then you will have the capability to download the content to your personal device. Please refer to Rumie Management Center documentation for more information.
If the toggle for "Device Management Learners" is not enabled, as a user you will not be able to select any collections to download to the internal storage of your device. The collections column on the "Configure Project" page will be greyed out which will not allow you to select any collections.
Downloading Project to device
A user can download a whole project to the internal storage of their device. This will give the user the capability to access all the content and collections of different libraries in their project. To download a project to your device you have to sync all the libraries in your project which can be done by using the Internet or the SD card. See Option 1 and Option 2 to achieve this

|
Downloading specific libraries to device
A user also has the capability of downloading only a specific library to the internal storage of their device. If you want to only download the content and collections of a specific library instead of downloading the whole project, then you can sync your selected library in your project using the internet or SD card. See Option 1 and Option 2 to achieve this

Downloading specific collections to device
Depending on the internal storage available on your device, you have the capability of downloading collections of selected libraries in your project. This will give allow you to download only selected collections to your internal storage rather than downloading the whole library/ project depending on the available storage space on your device. This can be done by syncing the selected collections in your libraries using the Internet or the SD card. See Option 1 and Option 2 to achieve this

Viewing Collections
In the Rumie app, we have made improvements by offering "My Libraries" as a new option in the Lesson Path. "My Collections" has been removed from the menu. Users can now view collections at a library level. Initially, if all or multiple selected libraries were synced, all collections were aggregated under one single collections view. Now every library will have its own view which makes viewing and accessing content more effective. Users can toggle between the different libraries they have synced from their project and can view the collections from a single library at a single time.

Option 3: Project Update via Rumie Local Sync
Rumie offers options to sync updated content onto the Rumie App in an offline environment through LAN and Mesh sync. This solution prevents using up bandwidth while enabling content to still be updated on the Rumie App.
Syncing a Project through Mesh or LAN Sync will require at least one tablet to have the most up-to-date content on it (see Option 1 and Option 2 to achieve this). The more up-to-date tablets you have to begin with, the faster the sync will complete. If you have connected to Mesh sync, ensure you disconnect from it before connecting to LAN sync.
LAN Sync | Mesh Sync |
---|---|
There is a 1:1 ratio of devices that need to be updated vs already updated devices. The more devices that are updated, the quicker the sync will become. Please see below for LAN sync recommendations before you begin
| Up to 5 Android devices (or Rumie tablets) can be synced at once through Mesh Sync (at least one up-to-date device and 4 devices that need to be synced). Please note, if more than 5 devices are to be synced through Mesh at once, you may experience connectivity issues due to the network. Mesh sync is supported on Rumie Tablets and mobile devices that support WiFi Direct™. For further information on WiFi direct: Discover WiFi Direct
|
Recommendations for LAN sync before you begin:
Project library size/ content size to be synced: | Up to 4GB |
---|---|
Number of devices to be synced: | Up to 20 (19 to be synced and at least one tablet up-to-date) |
Router speed: | 600 Mbps (2.5 GHz) + 1300 Mbps (5GHz) |
Suggested router brand: | D-Link AC1900 High Power Wi-Fi Gigabit Router |
Battery on devices: | Try to have at least 50% battery before beginning sync and/or have the devices plugged in to ensure the battery does not die mid-sync. |

- To edit a PDF: Tap the screen to display the toolbar at the top -> select the tool to use
- To add a bookmark, show bookmarks, or print: Tap the three dots in the top right-hand corner -> select an option
Videos
- Tap anywhere on the screen to make the video controls appear. These controls will let you pause, fast forward, rewind, and go back to the previous screen
Apps
If the apps are being accessed on Rumie Tablet, the Admin will see a few more apps than the Learner, including the Rumie Tablet Settings, if the Deployment Library was created with Content Lockdown on. This ensures that the Admin can access everything on the Rumie Tablet and the Learners can only access approved Content on the device.
Admin Usage
This section will provide the steps necessary to perform core functions as a Rumie App Admin user.
Usage | Description |
---|---|
Adding New Learner ProfilesDeleting New Learner Profiles | The Project comes with pre-configured users. Additional users can be added through the Rumie App:
The Admin cannot delete a learner from the Rumie App Admin can only stop learners from accessing the Rumie App. This can be done by changing the learner's password and not providing it to the specific learner
|
Logging In as Admin or Learner
There can be multiple Admins or Learners logged into the same account on different Rumie Apps. If the Rumie App is being used on the Rumie tablets, there is access to view the analytics of each user. To ensure accurate analytics, each Admin and Learner should have their own account.
- Inside the Rumie App select “Learner”
- Input the learner login username and password that has been provided by the Admin
Troubleshooting
Reinstalling an app that was deleted
As an Admin it is possible to delete apps on the home screen under the Apps tab. This is done by long pressing the app and a notification will appear "Uninstall application?" if the Admin clicks on YES the app will be removed from the Apps screen. This doesn't mean the app has been permanently deleted off the tablet or from the Collection is was part of. The app will still exist in the Collection. To re-download the app that was deleted from the Apps screen please follow the steps below.
- Navigate into the Rumie App
- Login as Admin
- Navigate to the Collection where the app was located
- Since the app was removed it should have a green android robot next to it
- Click on the app
- A notification will appear "Do you want to install this application? It does not require any special access."
- Click INSTALL
- After the installation is complete click OPEN to begin using the app
- The app will now re-appear in the home screen under the Apps page

“You are currently connected to Wifi network. Please use LAN sync to update via this network, or select “Forget Network” from Wifi settings to use Mesh Sync.” |
|
Android Devices are not connecting to Group Owner | If you are having trouble connecting an Android device to the Group Owner, try connecting it to Group Owner this time through selecting the Group Owner ID on the Android device that is to be updated. If an Android device is still not connecting, there might be a poor network connection. Try syncing with fewer devices. |
Android Device List Disappearing | After a period of time, the device list will disappear. If this happens to you, click the "Refresh device list" to retrieve the device list again. This may take a few seconds. If it is still not refreshing, try exiting out of the Mesh sync page and then reloading it. |
Android Device Status | When a tablet is connecting to the Group Owner tablet, its status will take a few seconds to change from "not connected" to "connected". During this time, please be patient and wait for the status to change to connect. |
"Mesh Sync is complete 0 Content(s) updated." | The tablet is already up-to-date with the most recent content. |
Android devices that are not Rumie tablets are showing up in the available devices list | This will happen because the network is searching for all Android devices. However, they will not start syncing with the content or interfere in the sync. |
Mesh sync did not sync all content | If the Mesh sync did not sync all of your content try going through Mesh sync again with the android device that did not receive all of the new content. |
Mobile Android Devices are not connecting to the Mesh Network | Mesh sync is supported on Rumie Tablets and mobile devices that support WiFi Direct™. For further information on WiFi direct: Discover WiFi Direct. |
LAN sync
Issue | Solution |
