Option 3: Project Update via Rumie Local Sync

Rumie offers options to sync updated content onto the Rumie App in an offline environment through LAN and Mesh sync. This solution prevents using up bandwidth while enabling content to still be updated on the Rumie App.

Syncing a Project through Mesh or LAN Sync will require at least one tablet to have the most up-to-date content on it (see Option 1 and Option 2 to achieve this). The more up-to-date tablets you have to begin with, the faster the sync will complete. If you have connected to Mesh sync, ensure you disconnect from it before connecting to LAN sync.

LAN Sync
Mesh Sync

There is a 1:1 ratio of devices that need to be updated vs already updated devices. The more devices that are updated, the quicker the sync will become.

Please see below for LAN sync recommendations before you begin

  1. Ensure at least one of the devices with the Rumie App has the most up-to-date content and/or Project on it (refer to Project Setup to sync a project onto your device)
  2. Place all of the devices next to each other. It is recommended that they are in close proximity to one another
  3. Connect all the devices to the same router through Wifi settings
  4. On all of the devices, including the most up-to-date ones, navigate to the Rumie App

  8. In the Settings screen select “Configure project”
  9. Select the Libraries to be updated
  10. Select the “LAN” method
  11. Click "Sync" and it will direct you to the LAN page
  12. Click "Start Syncing" on all devices

Up to 5 Android devices (or Rumie tablets) can be synced at once through Mesh Sync (at least one up-to-date device and 4 devices that need to be synced). Please note, if more than 5 devices are to be synced through Mesh at once, you may experience connectivity issues due to the network.

Mesh sync is supported on Rumie Tablets and mobile devices that support WiFi Direct™. For further information on WiFi direct: Discover WiFi Direct

  1. Ensure at least one Android device with the Rumie App has the most up-to-date content and/or Project on it (refer to Project Setup to sync a project onto your device)

  14. Start by connecting two devices together by selecting one of the two devices ID in the list of devices available
  15. The status of the two devices will update to “connected”
  16. One device will be labeled Group Owner. This selection is randomized and is not necessarily the tablet that is the most up-to-date
  17. On the Group Owner device, select the other device ID’s from its list to connect them to the Group Owner
  18. Once all of the devices have a status of “connected”, on the Group Owner device click “Start syncing”
  19. The devices will begin syncing and will notify you once they are complete
